About Talk 1:
Mobile User Experience Design – Creating Usable and Innovative Mobile Interactive System
Abstract: Mobile Human‐Computer Interaction (Mobile HCI) is one of the most prevailing
research areas across disciplines in recent years. A good research in the area requires not only
understanding of users’ information processing capability and their behaviors, but also
familiarity of limitations and specifications of new innovative systems. Ideally, it is better to
have a team with engineers, designers and social scientists working together for Mobile HCI
studies. However, it is not an easy practice. The purpose of the presentation is to explore how
to conduct multidisciplinary research for innovative mobile media and applications. The first
part introduces efforts in developing interdisciplinary interactive and digital media research in
Singapore. The second part exhibits some of the presenter’s published work to illustrate new
mobile interaction services and applications to synergize engineering and behavioral science
research for interactive system design such as mobile augmented reality games.
About the speaker:
Dr. Duh is the deputy director (research) of KEIO‐NUS CUTE centre and, a
joint faculty member in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Interactive
and Digital Media Institute at National University of Singapore. He received his degrees in
psychology, design and engineering respectively. After finishing his PhD, he went to NASAJohnson Space Centre as a postdoctoral fellow involving in virtual reality training project. Dr. Duh is a Senior Member of both ACM and IEEE, the Singapore Representative of the
International Federation of Information Processing Technical Committee on Human‐ Computer
Interaction (IFIP TC13: HCI) and the Chairman of the ACM Singapore Chapter. He is the
Associate Editor of ACM Entertainment in Computer and published more than 60 conference
and journal papers in HCI area. His current research focuses on user experience, interaction
design, and gaming effects in mobile systems. Dr. Duh is a private pilot and certified advanced
ground instructor by the FAA.
About Talk 2:
Introduction to Microsoft Windows phone 7

new set of opportunities for mobile developers and consumers. Join us for a session on
introduction to Windows Phone 7, its new features and how to get started with writing apps for
the phone
